ABout Coach Cosma
I was born into a boxing family and received my first pair of boxing gloves at the age of four. My grandfather was an amateur boxer who competed in the Cleveland Golden Gloves. I began my formal martial arts training at the age of nine and quickly fell in love with fighting. I soon began training and competing in Kyokushin (bare-knuckle karate). After a break in my late teens, I rediscovered my passion for fighting and began training boxing and kickboxing eventually making boxing my main focus. After a move to Austin, TX I coached and developed boxing programs at numerous gyms, including Richard Lord’s and Cooper MMA.
As a coach, I have produced a National Champion, four Golden Gloves Champions, and Nationally Ranked amateurs from the ground up. Outside of competition, I have coached hundreds of people, helping them build skill, confidence, fitness and a appreciation for the beautiful sport of boxing.
I believe in a defense-first approach, placing a strong emphasis on footwork, head movement, blocking, and parrying. Only once these skills are firmly established do I begin building offense.
